What you don't want to happen, the night before your party, is for the fridge freezer to break down. But it did. Fortunately we were planning a barbecue anyway so the sausages were all for cooking, but also the less standard al fresco food such as Fish Fingers... (And later a chocolate fountain).

We got the only second-hand F/F available in the local press, for £20, although it was about 40min drive away; and filled every bucket and basin with ice from Iceland.

Didn't think anyone was coming at about 4pm, but at 4.15 there were loads of ppl. Robbie conducted tours of the house (!) whilst I was still preparing the Pimms in the kitchen (due to the late running of events). There were three waves of people in attendance moving from family and older friends through to the hip youngster (us) at the end. Finished off the night with guitars and drums for a good ol' jam session, for that extra bit of cool. ;)

Bacon butties and pots of tea the next morning. Photos on FB.

Never having such a big party again. Until the wedding.

Come home from night of drinkies, to discover that fridge-freezer packed with booze and ice for tomorrow's party - has only got a working light. No coldness. Have removed some booze in the hope that over filling prevented working...

what's in the bin?!

Whilst I was in the garden, the back door was left open, but the kitchen door to the rest of the house was closed. I swore I could hear something bumping around in the house - cat-like, but I Couldn't see anything, so carried on.

More bumping. Nothing had snuck into the dining-room...

More bumping. Open the kitchen bin. Stoopid straggly moggy from next door, just sitting in the bin. Get out!

?

And then it sits in the garden like I might pick up its smelly body and put it back in its own garden.

Friday night fun.

Well, the aircon blew hot air all the way to Bristol airport, but the flight was uneventful and we arrived without a bump.

Have been meeting cousins and drinking booze in preparation for tonight's party.

It's rained a bit but the weather's not too bad.

mid-holiday update

It was a long drive to hot & sunny Cardiff to see Take That yesterday There were nearly 60,000 people in the stadium and the show was excellent - not that I am a huge TT fan, you understand, but Robbie likes their new stuff. They had an elephant! A huge semi-mechanised elephant, with acrobats performing tail-swishing and ear-waving. A proper show, good entertaining.

Got home about 1.45am and straight to bed.

Up again at 7.50 for today's exam. Completed the first question perfectly. Had to reverse-engineer one section to get the right answer. Might just pass a theory question. Overall, I reckon its a pass and I've only got one more year of this to go! Ha-ha!

Had a lovely weekend.

Our mate Phil organised a (surprise) meal out for his wife Marie; had a night out with Emma, dancing to The Vision; and did loads of gardening.

Also have booked the Sandbar in Praa Sands for our wedding party on September 4th, next year. That's the first thing ticked off the list...

And we watched The Libertine until 1.25am which is just a bit too late for a school night.

I am so tired...

...of studying for this accounts exams. Its almost all coming together. Just waiting until Wednesday morning when I can put it all down on paper - and then instantly forget it.

*sigh*

(And for those who don't know, Emma got made redundant on Monday).

Popped down to St Ives this afternoon to blow my hang-over away and do a spot of window shopping. Drove home via Hayle and through a freak hail shower!

Back in sunny Camborne, it is a gorgeous evening.

Just been out tidying the garden - another procastinating tactic. So many snails! Enough to make a plentiful dinner if anyone cares to join for petit gris a la garlic?

wedding stuff

We've been invited to the wedding of a friend of Robbie's at the end of this month. Which is very nice, although the church ceremony is at 11.30am and the reception at 7.30pm. Hmmm. Which set us to thinking. We don't really want to go to the wedding, just the party - and I would imagine that is much the way that you guys would feel about our wedding.

So, to save the hassel of deciding which second cousins, and great aunts have to get cut from the guestlist so we can have some friends at our wedding - we are getting married abroad.

Hmmm, we like Italy.

That'll do!

So we will get married next summer in the Cloisters of Sorrento, and then have a beach venue party in Cornwall for our family and friends, wearing our wedding outfits, and do something symbolic like the cutting of a cake.

In the meantime, we are planning a recce to Sorrento from August 17/21 and are hoping to catch up with you all on the 21st and or 22nd when we land at Gatwick. Don't suppose anyone lives 'near' Gatwick?

WGW

  • May. 1st, 2009 at 6:43 PM

Thought I should recommend the Fringe Comedy event if it runs again. Had a very good time, only one dudd act out of the lot, and nice to do something different.

Spent too much time drinking and not enough time taking pictures of people - this latter I kind of left up to Emma.

Will post pics eventually though.

Planning ahead, Robbie has said he'd like to come to October Whitby with me - in 2010!

back from WGW

  • Apr. 28th, 2009 at 8:35 PM

Oh what a long drive home - there must be a better way to get from here to there and back again!

Had much fun and flirting, and drinking and dancing. Wish I could have stayed longer and done more of everything. WILL stay longer next time.

Back with tentative plans for a house-warming plan on the August Bank Holiday weekend; and new and improved wedding party plans so we can invite more of you!

Whitby tickets

  • Apr. 20th, 2009 at 9:42 PM

Did anyone who ordered tickets back in December when there was the discount/upgrade offer - get what they thought they ordered?

Thankyou.
